This 2001 Steve Jobs interview is a great reminder of the importance of passion in entrepreneurial endeavors and human connection in technological endeavors. That’s where Jobs and Apple really got it right: standing (as he puts it in the interview) “at the intersection of technology and humanity” and “delivering emotion”.
The topics of emotional engagement and human connection were often discussed in the context of virtual reality at the 2015 Future of StoryTelling summit in New York. Successful companies in the VR/AR space will be those that leverage the technology to engage consumers with compelling forms of experience and expression. Technology has always been a means to an end, not the end itself.
